A silhouette of Sherlock Holmes cut from a page in his most infamous story, "A Scandal in Bohemia". You probably know that this is the story which introduced "the woman", Irene Adler. But it was also the first of Arthur Conan Doyle's 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories to be published in The Strand Magazine.
Don't worry. I didn't really cut-up my copy of Sherlock Holmes. The relevant page was scanned and edited with software, using a multi-step masking and reverse process. The slight yellowing of the paper comes honestly from the age of my original book, printed in 1978.
