Part of the Emotion Literacy Advocates' meme project, this image was created by artist Nathan Gregory in consultation with ELA to illustrate a scene that includes both childhood and adult perceptions. Mutual inclusivity is a fundamental concept of emotion literacy. Though perceptions can be questionable and often change, the feelings that accompany those perceptions are valid and hungry for acceptance. Feelings and needs can be worlds apart when it comes to children and adult "realities" but they co-exist. No matter how diametrically opposed, they are all true.
