Passed in the 1990s under President Bill Clinton, the Defense of Marriage Act is a law that discriminates against gay and lesbian people who are married in the eyes of the state in which they live. These same-sex married couples are denied federal recognition for their marriages, unlike straight married couples, and so they are denied a host of legal rights. That's discrimination. That's inequality. That's unAmerican. Congress, it's time to restore the 14th Amendment of the Constitution to full respect. Repeal DOMA Now!
