Things really took off for venerable Cleveland brewery Leisy Brewing Co. in 1882. Isaac Leisy and his brothers bought the Haltnorth Brewery in 1873 -- supposedly the price was negotiated down during a late night card game -- and quickly they built the most prosperous brewery in Cleveland. But in 1882, all of the brothers except for Isaac left for Nebraska with unclear reasons. With Isaac in sole control, production of barrels skyrocketed.
Brew 82 was produced in the 1950's, paying tribute to the year 1882 and the auspicious place it holds in Leisy history.
