Creating your design

Q: What is SKREENED 101? (coming soon)

A: SKREENED 101 is a quick tutorial to help folks familiarize themselves with not only how to use SKREENED, but be able to get the most out of their designs and shops on SKREENED.

Q: What type of image file formats do you accept?

A: We accept several image file formats:

If a black box appears where your image should be while using the create page, check to make sure there are no transparency settings in the file.

Q: What resolution do you recommend?

A: We recommend a 200dpi (dots per inch) file at actual print size. (actual print size is 11" X 17")
Templates are available for download here: .PSD (photoshop) .JPG .PNG

Q: Should I use RGB or CMYK color?

A: Either color space is acceptable.

Q: I have a file smaller than 200 dpi at actual size. Will it look ok?

A: Scaling a small image to print large on a shirt doesn't look great. Beware of scaling small images on the create page. An easy test is to print the image out at home at the size you want it to appear on the shirt. If it looks acceptable, it will probably be ok.

Q: What kind of Compression should I use on .jpg files?

A: If possible, us no or low compression / High Quality (for .jpg / .jpeg files)

Q: Is there anything else I should avoid?

A:

  • Avoid using image file names with special characters and/or spaces.
  • Very large images above 2200 x 3400 pixels.
  • 16 or 32 bit .png files

Q: How does the printing process handle white?

A: White becomes transparent. Our printing process does not currently print white or. Any white in your uploaded file will render on the preview screen and print as transparent. If you are familiar with Adobe Photoshop, the "Multiply" layer style is a good simulation of how the print will turn out.

Colors Lighter than the garment will not appear brighter than the garment but rather tint it to that hue. To get a hands-on understanding of this, use our create page to upload and preview your image.

Q: Troubleshooting: I'm getting a black box or border when I upload my file to the create page?

A: If you are using a .gif or .png file, it likely has some transparency settings; either alpha or index transparency that will throw the preview on the create page out of whack.

Q: Troubleshooting: I click upload and nothing happens?

A: Your file may be too large. shrink it down to 2000 X 2000 pixels or smaller and try again. Also, try closing and opening your web browser, or trying a different web browser. If these don't help, please don't hesitate to contact us, so we can fix it.
